Small Business Cash Flow Challenges Rise in Regional Australia
New research from the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals that
regional businesses are experiencing unprecedented cash flow pressures,
with payment delays averaging 67 days across rural sectors. Small
manufacturing and retail operations in Queensland and NSW are adapting
their budgeting strategies to manage extended payment cycles.
The study, conducted across 2,400 businesses throughout 2024, shows
that companies implementing structured cash flow forecasting are 40%
more likely to maintain stable operations during economic uncertainty.
Financial planning experts recommend weekly cash position reviews
rather than monthly assessments.
